Vintage Beauty Tags - Meg's Garden

Hello everyone my vintage tags are up on the Meg's Garden blog today,
I love vintage tags, so today I am going to show 2 tags that I have created using strips of Meg’s garden papers with pretty vintage beauties collage images with all the gorgeous embellishments that are available at Meg’s Garden website.

When you purchase a 12’x12’ paper from Meg’s Garden you also receive a strip 12’ x 4’ of the same paper design. So today I am going to show you an idea to use this small strip to make backgrounds for tags. Cut the paper strip to the size you require and adhere to your tag. I used normal size manila tags.  Meg's garden website sells packs of various sizes.
I gently white washed the paper strip with Tim Holtz Distress Stain Picket Fence to give them a very shabby look to them and inked the edges with brown ink.
Then I decorated each tag with all the embellishments that I have listed below. Each vintage image is cut from the collage sheet; there are many images to choose from you get 5 different sized images on a 12’ x 4’ strip. Also if you can not decide which image you like, there is a Vintage Beauty pack (see more details on the website). I distressed the edges of the images and then inked around them and layered them on top of a ATC collage paper another paper repeating the same process.

This is the quote on the bottom of my layout. The papers I have used are from Kasiercraft.
The cloud ( painted gesso and added white glitter and word alphas-'Sea' are chipboards from
Imaginarium Designs.

I dabbed paint splashes around the page,(I am lovely this cool blue paint and colour - at the moment) I placed washi tape in background under the photographs, and I cut out diecuts of leaves from patterned Acetate from Kaisercraft. This is another fabulous way to use acetate, this week on the Kaisercraft blog, my Tuesday tip this week is about
"Using acetate in your projects"

Australian Scrapbooking Ideas #18 - Using Gesso on your layouts

Back again to show you another layout that has been featured in the latest issue of

"Australian Scrapbooking Ideas"
Issue 18

The layout is one that I created using Gesso as a background with a mask, all the details are in the magazine. Gesso can create beautiful effects on your projects that become unique pieces of work, I find that every time you use a mask you can get a different result too.

"Moments in Time"

I little history on the photograph in the layout, it is a photo of my Grandmother when she was only 13 years old (she is the one on the far left) next to her is her mother and father (which are my Great grandparents) and next to them is my grandmother's sister. It is very usual to only have 2 children in a family, usually in the older times around the 1920's everyone had at least 7 to 10 children. Later in life, my grandmother married and she eventually made up for it and had 9 children.
This photo is such a treasured one from my family history.

Now for the technique about the layout, I created the background using a mask and applying gesso over the Prima paper, once dry I applied Pan Pastels over the gesso to highlight the raised areas. I soften the flowers, as well, by applying gesso over them. The list of materials and step by step are all in the magazine but I will make note that the
Chipboard frame, words - Imaginarium Designs.
Lace - Meg's garden.

The magazine is so jammed packed,
100 pages of inspirational colour layouts,
designs and techniques. So happy and excited to be in the Designer hall of fame for ASI along with many talented creatives, so do yourself a favour any buy a subscription to the magazine, there is a special offer at the moment on page 45 of this current issue. Also, it is available from all newsagents now around Australia or you can purchase it here online from Practical Publishing, HERE

Thanks for looking , have a great day. :)

CSI#55 - Teacup collection

Hi there everyone, the next weeks case file at CSI has just been released and
Thanks to Debbi for inviting me to be guest investigator for the month of January.

Here is my layout that I have created. The colours in this week challenge are fabulous again. I created the background with green Prima Washi tape and Kaisercraft papers.

My Teacup Collection - CSI#55

Here are the details for this week

I have an interesting collection of vintage teacups in my display cupboard. I started collected them over 25 years ago, when I received my first set of cup and saucer as a gift. I always would buy a set when we travelled to interesting places, a perfect reminder of our travels. I do use them when we have guests over for a cup of tea and cake, but there are some that are so delicate and too precious to take out. I love my teacup collection.
It transports me back to the Victorian age.

For Testimony

I wrote - 6 interesting things about my teacup collection

Fine Bone china
Made in England
Over 100 year old
Vintage antique collection
Royal Albert & Royal Doulton
I love my collections of teacups.

For Evidence

Circles – they are diecuts (they look like a stamp on the page) &
paper doily under photo
Flowers – lace and paper
Leaves

Materials used:
Kaisercraft papers – Marigold paper collection
Imaginarium Designs chipboard – part of frame & alphas.

Thanks for looking :)
