Australian Scrapbooking Ideas #18 - Using Gesso on your layouts

Back again to show you another layout that has been featured in the latest issue of

"Australian Scrapbooking Ideas"
Issue 18

The layout is one that I created using Gesso as a background with a mask, all the details are in the magazine. Gesso can create beautiful effects on your projects that become unique pieces of work, I find that every time you use a mask you can get a different result too.

"Moments in Time"

I little history on the photograph in the layout, it is a photo of my Grandmother when she was only 13 years old (she is the one on the far left) next to her is her mother and father (which are my Great grandparents) and next to them is my grandmother's sister. It is very usual to only have 2 children in a family, usually in the older times around the 1920's everyone had at least 7 to 10 children. Later in life, my grandmother married and she eventually made up for it and had 9 children.
This photo is such a treasured one from my family history.

Now for the technique about the layout, I created the background using a mask and applying gesso over the Prima paper, once dry I applied Pan Pastels over the gesso to highlight the raised areas. I soften the flowers, as well, by applying gesso over them. The list of materials and step by step are all in the magazine but I will make note that the
Chipboard frame, words - Imaginarium Designs.
Lace - Meg's garden.

The magazine is so jammed packed,
100 pages of inspirational colour layouts,
designs and techniques. So happy and excited to be in the Designer hall of fame for ASI along with many talented creatives, so do yourself a favour any buy a subscription to the magazine, there is a special offer at the moment on page 45 of this current issue. Also, it is available from all newsagents now around Australia or you can purchase it here online from Practical Publishing, HERE

Thanks for looking , have a great day. :)
